Summer Trip to China II

Today I finally got my visa to enter China. After endless queues and a bit of patience I finally got it. It seems this special trip is getting closer and I am looking forward going there. It’s been almost two years since the last time I traveled to Asia (Japan being my last destination). Since I have always been particularly interested in East Asia as a region, both in terms of its culture, its economics and politics, and we are assisting to a tectonic shift in terms of power across world regions – moving from West to East – I reckon this trip will be an enriching experience. Besides, after the sudden loss of my brother, there are few things in this life that make me regain a little of motivation, being this type of experiences the only thing that seem to be worth living.

Lately, I have been reading some of the history and politics books included in the reading list of the IR course I will be attending at Peking University, and it is something refreshing to plunge myself into this literature. Moreover, knowing that in a matter of days I will immerse myself in China’s reality and I’ll be able to get many insights no books will ever provide, but only can be grasped through life experience. I’m sure I will be surprised by the amazing modernization the country has experienced through the last three decades.

I will try to post some photos every day while there. My first sight will be Beijing new International Airport. I will try to take some pics since its the biggest airport in the world, conceived by Norman Foster.
